Jairam counts Cong feats, demeans BJP regimes
Source: Chronicle News Service

Imphal, October 03 2021: Charging the BJP government of indulging in corruption, AICC election observer for Manipur and parliamentary committee chairman Jairam Ramesh said that Congress brings development and BJP brings corruption.

Attending a one-day political interaction programme organised by District Congress Committee, Thoubal at the committee office on Sunday, Jairam Ramesh said that people of the state will say Bye Bye Biren in the 2022 state assembly election and people of the country will say Bye Bye Naren' after two years.

During the 15 years of Congress rule, Manipur witnessed major developmental changes in terms of roads, bridges, school and hospitals among others.

On the other hand, no new development could be seen in the state during the last four and half years of BJP rule other than rampant corruption becoming the norm.

Congress unites people but BJP divides, he said.

Thoubal district is like home ground for Congress and increasing the party's strength in the district will subsequently strengthen the party in the state, he said and called upon the party workers in the district to work for the welfare of people in over 250 villages in Thoubal district.

Strength at the booth level is a must to fight the election successfully, he said while asking all the party workers to strive for defeating BJP in the forthcoming election.

He also said that Congress still has several heavyweight leaders and these leaders can bring back Congress rule in the state.

In his address, CLP leader Okram Ibobi said that Congress candidates in every assembly constituency have the ability to hght and defeat BJP candidates.

He also encouraged party leaders and workers to work with proper coordination and confidence.

Former MPCC president Moirangthem Okendro, Wangkhem MLA K Meghachandra, Khangabok MLA Okram Surjakumar, MPCC vice-president M Hemanta and District Congress Committee, Thoubal president Lukhoi also attended the interaction programme.

At JnNRUM hall in Kakching Sumak Leikai, where he attended a reception programme, Jairam contended that the BJP led government has made the people suffer too much and is becoming the enemy of the youth.

Jairam, who is also Parliamentary Committee chairman, asserted that there is urgent need to save Manipur from the dictatorial BJP government.

The reception event was organised by Block Congress Committee, Kakching (BCCK) and District Congress Committee Kakching (DCCK) along with Indian Youth Congress (IYC) Kakching A/C, Minority Cell Kakching A/C, Mahila Congress Kakching A/C and National Students' Union of India (NSUI) Kakching A/C.While maintaining that now is the time to abolish the BJP government, he continued that Congress government will surely return and urged the people to work together with Congress in Manipur and in India so as to bring a good government.

The presence of active intending candidates in Kakching A/ C in the upcoming state assembly election signifies that Kakching is still the backbone of Indian National Congress in the state, he said.

The programme was attended by District Congress Committee president Elangbam Manglem, Block Congress Committee president Kshetrimayum Ibohal, MPCC working president Irengbam Hemochandra, MPCC secretary L Tilotama, Kakching Kendra Congress intending candidate Yengkhom Nilachandra, MPCC member and intending candidate Naorem Kobit among others.

MPCC working president I Hemochandra recalled that Congress has won in Kakching AC in the past three terms.

So, the upcoming poll will also be won by Congress surely.

Even though a former Congress MLA has joined another party, still there are many who are more qualified than him, he said.

Stating that the intending candidates present in the programme are more qualified than the previous MLA, Hemochandra said that Congress will still continue to win in Kakching and will return to power in Manipur.
