CM inaugurates Lamdeng water supply scheme

Imphal, August 26 2018: Chief Minister N Biren Singh dedicated a water supply scheme to the public at Lamdeng in Imphal West district today.

Speaking at the occasion as the chief guest, he said that the State Government has set a target to cover 2500 villages under 'Go to Village' mission before the Lok Sabha elections likely to be held in the early part of 2019.The Chief Minister appreciated the Government officials/employees for putting in best efforts to make the mission a success.

Stating that every politician should take politics as a game of competition to bring people's welfare, the Chief Minister also mentioned different welfare schemes introduced and implemented by the present Central and State Governments.

Around 10,000 school drop-out children had been re-admitted under State Government's 'Lairik Tamhansi -No Child Left Behind' so far, he said.

The Chief Minister also mentioned about Government's noble schemes like Chief Minister-gi Hakshelgi Tengbang and Chief Minister-gi Sotharabashing-gi Tengbang etc.

Stating that the new Government was able to take some bold decisions recently, Biren said that even influential persons were not spared in the arms missing case.

He also stated that an upright police officer who was instrumental in busting a big drug racket apart from seizing huge quantity of drugs had been given gallantry award.

All these activities show that the new Government aspires to bring change and always encourages honesty and diligence, he added.

Around 2.4 lakh people of the State would be benefited under Ayushman Bharat, he said and added that the new Government is committed to bring a healthy society and encourage entrepreneurship and self-employment.

Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Y Khemchand, Lamshang AC MLA and State Planning Board Deputy Chairman S Rajen, Oinam AC MLA and Manipur Pollution Control Board Chairman L Radhakishore and MLAs Ksh Biren and O Lukhoi were also present at the occasion.

Secretary (PHE) Nidhi Kesarwani and other high ranking officials of PHED also attended the function.

Lamdeng Water Supply Scheme was taken up by the Public Health Engineering Department at an estimated cost of Rs 280 lakh under State Plan.

The scheme having a capacity of 9.3 lakh litres per day was sanctioned in the year 2016, and the work started on May 20, 2016 and completed on December 28, 2017.Raw water is pumped electrically to the treatment site from Luwanglee River, and the treated water is currently supplied to around 5000 people.

The scheme is targeted to cover Lamsang small town having a population of 8130 people.
