Cases rise marginally, TPR drops, jabbed trio dies

Imphal, January 23 2022:
For the second consecutive day, the daily Covid-19 positive cases remained around the 400 mark while the cumulative number of fatalities reached 2025 after three more patients, who reportedly have had the second dose of vaccine, succumbed to the viral disease on Sunday.
After record spike of 580 cases and test positivity rate (TPR) of 19.5 per cent on Friday, the rate of infection has been showing a decline trend with 404 cases and TPR of 18.1 per cent recorded on Sunday while on Sunday the TPR dipped to 16.4 per cent as 411 persons were found infected out of a total of 2513 samples tested across the state.
Among the 16 districts only three were free from the contagious disease in the last 24 hours with Chandel topping the TPR chart at 31.1 per cent and Senapati recording lowest TPR of 1.0 per cent.
Of the three victims, two were residents of Churachandpur district and one was from Imphal West.
Two of the deceased persons were said to be comorbid patients.
Out of the total number of positive cases, 359 persons, including 178 males are from among the general population and 52 personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) .
According to the daily update of Covid-19 Common Control Room, the positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (81), Imphal West (164), Thoubal (26), Bishnupur (11), Kakching (16), Kangpokpi (4), Jiribam (3), Noney (3), Ukhrul (1), Tengnoupal (11), Senapati (2), Chandel (9) and Churachandpur (28) .
On the other-hand, statement issued jointly by three officials of IDSP elaborated that Bishnupur logged 11 cases with 8.3 per cent TPR, Chandel (38/31.1 per cent), Churachandpur (28/25.2 per cent) Imphal East (82/23.4 per cent), Imphal West (177/24.3 per cent), Jiribam (3/2.3 per cent), Kakching (23/22.5 per cent), Kangpokpi (4/8.7 per cent), Noney (3/17.6 per cent), Senapati (2/1.0 per cent), Tengnoupal (11/3.2 per cent), Thoubal (26/17.1 per cent) and Ukhrul (3/16.4 per cent) .
The positive cases were confirmed at RIMS (37), JNIMS (55) and other testing centres (319) .
In the last 24 hours, 134 persons were discharged from home isolation (82), RIMS (2), JNIMS (7) and CCCs (43).With the addition of Sunday's tally, the number persons infected by the virus reached 1,30,072 including 1,25,204 from among the general population and 4868 CAPF personnel.
The number of recovered persons reached 1,24,634 (general population – 1,20,151 and CAPF - 4483).The number of active cases stands at 3412 including 3035 from among the general population and 378 CAPF personnel.
The recovery rate further declined to 95.82 per cent against 96.02 per cent on Saturday.
While informing that all necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, official report stated that a total of 2022 D-type and 22 B-type Oxygen cylinders were distributed to different health facilities in the last 24 hours.
The number of Covid-19 vaccines administered on Saturday was 7544 taking the cumulative number of vaccinated persons to 24,35,513 out of which 10,32,444 beneficiaries have received the second dose and 14,879 were administered with the precautionary dose.
As per official record, the total number of cases in different districts are Imphal West (45,932), Imphal East (28,786), Thoubal (9678), Churachandpur (10,677), Kangpokpi (2979), Tamenglong (3312), Bishnupur (9383), Senapati (2332), Ukhrul (3094), Kakching (6583), Chandel (2540), Noney (1109), Tengnoupal (1113), Jiribam (1087), Kamjong (1001) and Pherzawl (465) .
Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (679), Imphal East (485), Thoubal (179), Churachandpur (166), Kangpokpi (64), Tamenglong (14), Bishnupur (195), Senapati (10), Ukhrul (46), Kakching (116), Chandel (42), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
