Imphal, January 07:
After a thorough investigation into the shady dealings and mismanagements plaguing the Imphal Urban Co-operative Bank for the last two years, the proscribed RPF has 'given voluntary retirement' to its General Manager, Kangujam Lukhoi for manipulating his date of birth.
Parading Lukhoi before media persons at a place in Churachandpur district on January 5, a spokesperson of the outfit's Department of Communication and Publicity conveyed that the outfit conducted a detailed investigation to find out the fraudulent practices plaguing the bank.
In the course of the investigation, it was established that Kangujam Lukhoi's return to the Imphal Urban Cooperative Bank as general manager through fraudulent practices was largely responsible for the tense and discontented atmosphere situation in the bank, the spokesperson said.
Kangujam Lukhoi of Malom Tuliyaima paid no heed when he was summoned by the RPF in connection with the woes plaguing the IUCB.
The failure of Lukhoi to correct his date of birth when he was given time for it in 1993 by the then GM of IUCB and manipulation of his date of birth when he became AGM (A) of the bank in 2001 serves as a justified ground to impeach Lukhoi.
After he retired from the IUCB as his service period expired and when his fraudulent act of serving as GM of the bank by manipulating date of birth was exposed, Lukhoi filed a case in the Court contending that he was removed from service before the expiry of his service period, the spokesperson conveyed.
The rot in the Co-operative Bank was further aggravated by the withdrawal of salaries for 21 months (March 2006 to December 2007) amounting to Rs 6,51,000 by Lukhoi and also by his refusal to give up the post of General Manager, noted the spokesperson while warning Lukhoi to pay back the amount to the bank within three months.
On account of his corrupt practices and the possibility of the bank falling into further trouble in case Lukhoi continues as its GM, he has been 'given voluntary retirement', announced the spokesperson while asking succeeding bank authority to maintain transparency in the working of the bank and to make it a people's bank.
Before the media persons, Lukhoi confessed his faults and accepted all the findings of the investigation undertaken by the proscribed RPF.
