    Dimapur inferno claims 2, razes 30 houses to cinders

    Dimapur, April 23: A devastating fire that broke out at D Colony and Master Colony in Dimapur today morning has claimed the lives of two minors besides razing 300 houses to the ground.

    The two deceased are minors, aged five and two and half.

    The fire broke out at morning and lasted till 1 pm.

    Reports said that some 750 families have been rendered homeless due to the inferno.

    The exact worth of property destroyed by fire is yet to be estimated but it is expected to be huge.

    Raja Chanda, a Class-A student of Xuvihe Memorial School and Rimpi Chakraborty were charred to death on the spot after being caught in the fire.

    The cause of the fire is yet to be established but Dimapur police pointed out that it could be due to the explosion of either LPG cylinder of a kerosene stove.

    As the fire raged, explosion of a number of LPG cylinders were heard.

    Some six fire tenders carried out their utmost service but failed to save the property and the two lives.Even fire tender from Dimapur Airport were pressed into service.
