Union Ministry of Human Resource Development so far released a sum of Rs 100 lakh to Manipur till the end of December 2007 out of the approved outlay of Rs.4908.86 lakh earmarked for Manipur during the current year 2007-08 under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) programme.
Sources from the Ministry said that in the Eleventh Plan, the SSA has a funding pattern between Centre and States in the ratio of 65:25 for the first two years of the Eleventh Five Year Plan i.e.2007-08 and 2008-09; 60:40 for the third year i.e.2009-10;55: 45 for the fourth year i.e.2010-11 and 50:50 thereafter i.e.from 2011-12 onwards.
For the North Eastern States, the fund-sharing pattern between Centre and States shall be 90:10 under the programme with the Centre's share resource from the 10 per cent earmarked funds for the NE Region in the SSA Central Budget, the sources added.
The outlay approved for Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan for the 11th Plan is Rs 71,000 crores and for the current year 2007-08 is Rs 21344 crores.
So far an amount of Rs 9359 crore had been released to States and Union Territories during the year.
Total approved outlay for North Eastern States for the current year is Rs.107380.88 lakh and so far an amount of Rs 17295.84 lakh had been released to the NE States.
An amount of Rs 2838.90 lakh out of an approved
outlay of Rs 62138.49 lakh for the year 2007-08 had been released to Assam; Rs 5392.78 lakh (Rs 12500.28 lakh) to Arunachal Pradesh;
Rs 100.00 lakh (Rs 4808.86 lakh) to Manipur; Rs 2359.63 lakh (Rs 14007.28 lakh) to Meghalaya; Rs 2046.26 lakh (Rs 4832.34 lakh) to Mizoram; Rs 1284.00 lakh (Rs 1997.78 lakh) to Nagaland; Rs 99.72 lakh (Rs 2302.79 lakh) and Rs 2174.55 lakh (Rs 4793.06 lakh) to Tripura.
