Kangpokpi, July 20 2019: Education Minister Th Radheshyam Singh inaugurated Hengbung Government High School Annexe building constructed under RMS A 2016-17 at Hengbung village in Kangpokpi District today.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Education Minister Th Radheshyam Singh as chief guest and L Nandakumar Singh, Joint Secretary, Education (S), E/o Addl State Project Director, RMSA, Manipur and Hmangte Lerte Kom, Addl Director of Education (S), Govt of Manipur attended as guests of honour while Lhingneikim Kipgen, ZEO Kangpokpi attended the inaugural function as functional president.

Former minister and National vice-president, BJP Schedule Tribe Morcha (in-charge North East), Haokholet Kipgen, who is also the president of FEEDS/KVK Kangpokpi; Maj Khrisna Singh, Post Commander, 34 AR Hengbung Post; village chiefs and local civil bodies leaders also attended the inaugural ceremony.

The Education Minister unveiled the inaugural stone in the presence of various other dignitaries followed by dedication and invocation prayer by the local Pastor.

Speaking at the occasion, Minister Th Radheshyam pointed out that hill districts need to be developed as without development of the hill districts, Manipur cannot be called a developed state.

He also urged the parents not to put unnecessary pressure on children to fulfill their desires and wishes but rather let the children spread their wings as wide as they wish to fly in the sky as high as they desire and make them grow freely with love and care.

The Education Minister also assured to provide the basic needs to Hengbung Government High Schools while assuring to look into the matter of the memorandum submitted by the School Management and Development Committee (SDMC) of Hengbung village.

According to the memorandum submitted by KS Minlen, Convenor SMDC, managing over 300 students from Hengbung areas by just 14 teachers including one Grade IV of the required 18 teachers added extra-burden in school administration which is compounded by the absence of Headmaster or Assistant Headmaster ever since it was upgraded into a full-fledged high school.

Besides, one teacher is also utilized at other school, it added.

As such, it demands from the concerned minister to appoint additional teachers in Hengbung Government High School to ensure smooth functioning of the school.

Th Radhehsyam stated that the proposal for upgrading the high school into higher secondary school will be put up if necessary after due process.

Speaking on the lack of teachers in the School, he said that the proposal for district wise recruitment is under process so that the selected teachers are posted at their own respective district which will address the shortage of teachers to some extent.

The Minister also assured that with regard to maintaining proper retaining walls of the schools, the department will look into the matter.

He applauded the school authority for good performance in the HSLC Examination, 2019 in which out of fifteen students, eleven students passed the examination in second division and three students in third division.

L Nandakumar Singh, Joint Secretary, Education-S said that under the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), RMSA supports civil work construction of schools in two ways i) to upgrade junior high school to a new high school and develop new infrastructure of the school including building or ii) to strengthen the already existing infrastructure of the high school by developing new infrastructure.

He also congratulated the teachers and students for being the first school to have completed the construction of infrastructure development under RMSA 2016-17 .

He added that Hengbung High School falls under the second category where the school has already existing high school and thus construction of new infrastructure was approved to further strengthen the school.

He stated that construction of a hall, a science laboratory, an art & crafts room and two additional classrooms were approved by the MHRD as these are the necessary amenities for the students in the learning process.
