Khangkhui Khullen villagers construct RCC bridge

Ukhrul, July 20 2019:
Khangkhui Khullen villagers with their generous contribution constructed an RCC bridge namely "Khangkhui-Choithar" bridge that will connect the villages area with the district headquarter Ukhrul.
The RCC bridge was constructed over a main tributary of Thoubal river at Khangkhui Khullen village, which will shorten the distance of the Veikhang villages area to Ukhrul town.
Social worker Zairus Arthur inaugurated the Khangkhui-Choithar RCC bridge today at the river site on behalf of the local MLA Alfred Arthur, who was supposed to grace the function as the chief guest.

Zairus cut the ribbon, unveiled the plaque and declared the bridge open for the residents.
Convener of Khangkhui Khullen Road Development Committee, SC Ngraunmi expressed that the village authority gave approval for the construction of bridge last year and appreciated the support from MLA, ADC members, neighbouring villages, Yorla, NGOs and IHAO facebook group for extending financial assistance, materials, and even labourers to address the plight of the villagers.
He mentioned that RCC bridge is 40 feet in length and 14 feet width and was constructed with an estimated cost of Rs 15 lakh within one year through the concerted effort and dedication of the villagers while adding that Khangkhui Khullen is inhabitated by more than 150 household families and is located 20 km away from Ukhrul town.
Ukhrul ADC member, P Mark Luithing, who attended the inaugural function as guest of honour, lauded the villagers for performing a Herculean task without seeking assistance from government.
Social worker, Christopher Kasar urged the peoples of Veikhang area villages to support each other to bring tangible development in the region.
The inauguration function was attended by neighbouring villages headmen, VAs, well wishers and the villagers of Khangkhui Khullen.
