Sainik School Principal seeks Govt's assistance

Imphal, July 20 2019: The Principal of Sainik School Imphal, GP Capt HCS Chauhan has sought State Government's assistance in organising the East Zone Sainik School Sports and Cultural Festival/ Championship, 2019-20 to be hosted by Sainik School Imphal from July 22 to 26 .

The Principal asked for the assistance during a press meet held today at the premises of Sainik School Imphal.

The press meet was also attended by Vice Princial of the School, Wng Cdr Shreeprakash J .

HCS Chauhan stated that the 5 day zonal event will be participated by contingents from 6 Sainik Schools across the North East States namely, Sainik School Purulia, West Bengal; Sainik School Goalpara, Assam; Sainik School Punglwa, Nagaland; Sainik School Chhingchhip, Mizoram and Sainik School East Siang, Arunachal Pradesh along with the hosts team.

The festival cum championship will witness the students vie for top honours in U-14 and U-17 football competitions, hockey, basketball and volleyball events besides cultural events which includes debate, quiz and other entertainment programmes.

Most of the sports events except hockey (to be played at Astro Turf Khuman Lampak Sports Complex) will be held at the school campus at Pangei, asserted the Principal while addressing the media.

He also added that the festival/championship will be formally inaugurated by Education and Employment Minister, Th Radheshyam on July 22 .

Such an event will help the students experience the importance of team spirit, fair play besides promoting bonds among the cadets and hence true sense of Nationalism, he said.

The event will also facilitate in selection and preparation of zonal teams for the Inter Zonal and All India Level events, he continued.
