During his maiden visit to Churachandpur district today, President of India Dr APJ Abdul Kalam not only declared that a science laboratory and three computer sets would be gifted to Bunglon High School but also won the hearts of the school kids with his endearing demeanours.
As part of his sojourn to the State, the President visited the School at Henglep sub-division of Churachandpur district.
Speaking at a gathering there, Dr Kalam announced that Rashtrapati Bhavan would deliver three computer sets to the School and Rs 10 lakhs in cash for construction of a science laboratory within six months.
While conveying his pleasure in visiting the district to the Governor Dr SS Sidhu and Chief Minister O Ibobi who accompanied him, the President remarked that the Headmaster of Bunglon High School was worthy of his post.
Inviting the students of the School to Rashtrapati Bhavan, Dr Kalam spent some time with the school children exchanging ideas and fielding questions.
To a question raised by a student as to how could terrorism and corruption could be eliminated from India, the President said that corruption can be uprooted from the country when all the students including college goers joined together for a strong appeal to their parents to stay away from corruption.
Concerning terrorism, Dr Kalam noted that the problem of terrorism can be decimated when teachers and parents joined together to make every citizen of the country responsible and righteous.
To another query, he clarified that India has no dealing with any other country on nuclear energy.
However, within five years India would generate nuclear energy from thorium and would start dealing with other countries on nuclear energy.
Dr Kalam also presented books to the Headmaster of the School.
