News Editor of DDK, Imphal, Robert J Baite passed away at Shija Hospitals and Research Institute today evening due to a personal illness.
He was 32 and is survived by his wife and two young sons.
Baite was rushed to Shija Hospitals yesterday following a break down in his health and operated upon.
Since then he was put on ventilator support but all efforts to save him proved futile and he passed away this evening.
Robert J Baite joined journalism while he was still a student, starting his stint with The Eastern Herald Tribune as a sub-editor in 1994-95 .
After the EHT closed downed, he joined Matamgi Yakairol another daily news paper.

He was associated with The Sangai Express for a short while as a Sub-Editor.
He left The Sangai Express after getting selected as a Development Officer in the Life Insurance Corporation and was posted at Aizawl.
All through this he did a course in Mass Communication and finally got through the Indian Information Service examination.
He rose to become the News Editor of DDK, Imphal soon.
Although his stint with The Sangai Express as a Sub-Editor was brief, he continued to write a weekly column which became one of the most read articles in the State.
The article appeared every Sunday under the caption Random Thoughts.
Not only was Random Thoughts insightful, it also highlighted different aspects of life in a satirical mode, which immediately struck the hearts of every readers.
The staff and management of TSE have deeply condoled the untimely passing away of Robert J Baite and a one minute silence was observed in the evening today to pay respect to the departed soul.
The staff and management also share the grief and pain of the bereaved family members, especially his wife and his two sons.
The All Tribal Students Union, Manipur has also condoled untimely passing away of Robert Baite.
