Imphal, July 28 2025: Ahead of the Imphal derby match against TRAU FC for Imphal chapter of the 134th Durand Cup, NEROCA FC unveiled team jersey on Monday at Hotel Classic Grande, Chingmeirong.

NEROCA FC, Chingmeirong will take on TRAU FC, Kwakeithel on the opening day of the Imphal chapter of the Durand Cup at Khuman Lampak main stadium being jointly organised by the Indian armed forces and state youth affairs and sports department.

The jersey unveiling function was attended by NEROCA FC president MLA Thangjam Arunkumar, donor and former president Thangjam Dhabali, donor Thangjam Joykumar, executive members of the club and head coach Gyan Moyon.

During the jersey unveiling function, NEROCA FC general secretary Dr Moirangthem Manimohan said the club had earlier decided not to take part in the Durand Cup due to financial issues.

The decision, however, was reversed during a meeting of club's executive committee after the possibility of losing entitled subsidy and invitation for tournaments in future emerged.

As the decision to take part in the prestigious tournament was taken belatedly, registration and accreditation cards for the players are yet to be completed.

However, the team underwent intense practice under head coach Gyan Moyon and is fully prepared to face rival TRAU FC on July 30, he said.

Meanwhile, Gyan Moyon said that the present team is a mix of mostly young and few experienced players.

The team underwent practice sessions for around one month with the addition of three foreign players and now fully prepared to face rival team in the Imphal derby of the Durand Cup with TRAU FC, he said adding that the match will be a keenly contested one as TRAU FC have talented and experienced players.

Notably, NEROCA FC are the first club from Manipur to play in the I-League after the club were promoted to the league from second division I-League in 2015-2016 season.

NEROCA FC lost to Army Green in the final of the Durand Cup-2016 .
