Sanjoy Khumukcham wins 7th KRSM open chess tourney title

Imphal, May 27 2025:
Sanjoy Khumukcham triumphed in the 7th Khuraijam Ramnarayan Shastri Memorial State Level Open Chess Tournament, finishing with an impressive 8 points to claim the top spot.
In the Open category, H Somokanta also scored 8 points but settled for second place on tiebreak, while Konjenbam Poireikhomba Meetei took third with 7� points.
Notable finishes included N Dhaneshwor and Oinam Ningthem with 7 points each, and Ph Rajen, aged 65, who impressed by finishing sixth, and Elangbam Shashikanta Singh, who also scored 6� points to take seventh place.

Sadokpam Premjit Singh, Longjam Kenedy Singh, and Rajkumar Angamba completed the top ten with 6 1/2, 6, and 6 points respectively.
Nongthombam Angelina Chanu was recognised as the Best Woman Player of the tournament.
The Under-15 Open section saw Jopex Nandeibam emerge champion with a perfect score of 6 points.
Dayanand Thoudam and Prichard Elangbam both scored 5� points, finishing second and third respectively.
In the girls' category, Nodia Sougaijam secured the top position with 5 points.
Rajkumari Sanghamitra and Lorena Nameirakpam came in second and third with 3 and 3 points respectively, based on Buchholz tiebreak scores.
In the Under-11 Open division, Lemba Sougaijam secured first place with 5� points and a Buchholz of 48.He was followed by Mangal Elangbam and Lanchenba Ngairangbam, both of whom scored 4� points, with Mangal edging ahead on tiebreak.
Meanwhile, in the Under-11 girls category, Chahaonu Ningombi topped the standings with 4 points and a Buchholz of 33.5 .
Jojo Chanu also scored 4 points but came second due to a lower tiebreak score of 27 .
Rajasmita Hanjabam finished third with 2 points and a Buchholz of 40.The Under-7 Open section witnessed Leirikchomba Mangang take first place with 3 points and a Buchholz score of 37 .
Rajkumar Thoiba secured second with the same score but a lower tiebreak of 31.5, while Messi Chongtham finished third with 2 points.
In the Under-7 Girls category, Linthoi Belencia emerged the winner based on tiebreak, despite finishing without any points, with a Buchholz of 36.In the Senior 60 category, S Robin claimed the title with 5� points and a Buchholz of 43.5 .
Bit Irom also scored 5 1/2 points but placed second with a Buchholz of 41.5 .
Th Tomba Singh secured third place with 5 points and a Buchholz of 44.5.Nongthombam Angelina Chanu was named Best Woman Player of the tournament.
