Manipur Hockey hails junior women's promotion to Div A

Imphal, August 06 2025: Manipur Hockey hailed the promotion of its junior women's hockey team to Division 'A' of the upcoming 16th Hockey India Junior Women National Championship 2026, describing it as a significant milestone for the state's sporting aspirations.

In an official release signed by CEO Moirangthem Premeshwor, the association announced that the team secured the top spot in Pool A of the ongoing 15th Hockey India Junior Women National Championship, currently being held in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh.

To celebrate the achievement, Manipur Hockey will organise a heroic welcome for the players and officials on August 9, 2025 at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport, Imphal.

Further highlighting the state's rising profile in the sport, the release noted that both the Manipur Sub-Junior Women's and Men's Hockey Teams have also been promoted to Division 'A' of the 16th Hockey India Sub-Junior National Championships 2026.The sub-junior women's team topped their pool during the 15th Hockey India Sub-Junior Women National Championship held in Ranchi, Jharkhand, from July 3 to 14, 2025 .

The sub-junior men's team secured first place in their pool at the 15th Hockey India Sub-Junior Men National Championship in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

"These achievements underscore the consistent growth and excellence of Manipur's young hockey talent on the national stage," stated the CEO.

Manipur Hockey extend ed its congratulations to all players, coaches, and officials for their dedication, perseverance, and commitment to the sport, noting that their accomplishments serve as a source of pride and inspiration for future athletes.
