Imphal, March 06 2025:
CHAMP Cricket Club outplayed KCC by 3 wickets in Thursday's action of the 9th MNCA W Prahlada & W Ramananda Elite Tournament 2024-25.The match, held at Lairenjam Public Ground, saw CHAMP overhaul KCC's modest total of 151 with calculated aggression, finishing at 153/7 in 35.3 overs.
Winning the toss, KCC elected to bat but faltered early, losing opener Keisham Mranojit Singh (17 off 20) and Ningombam Tony Singh (18 off 35) despite a brisk start.
The middle order crumbled under disciplined bowling from CHAMP, with only Nongmatthem Dijaraj Singh (38 off 84) offering resistance.
Extras (22) ironically became the second-highest contributor, reflecting KCC's struggle against tight lines.
CHAMP's skipper Md Sultan Karim (3/23) and Chingakham Ranjan Singh (3/31) exploited the conditions masterfully, sharing six wickets to bundle KCC out for 151 in 39.4 overs.
In response, CHAMP's openers Yumnam Kamajit (26 off 43) and Nawaz (65 off 78) laid a solid foundation with a 70-run partnership.
Nawaz's patient knock, peppered with 7 boundaries, anchored the innings even as KCC's Nameirakpam Arbin Singh (3/42) and Rohen Singh (2/12) struck at regular intervals.
A late stumble saw CHAMP slump from 123/5 to 149/7, but Keisham Kennedy (13* off 9) and Nongthombam Gulson Singh (4* off 2) held their nerve, with Gulson sealing the win with a boundary off Sunil Salam in the 36th over.
