Thingnam Rabikanta strikes gold at South Asian Karate Championship

Imphal, July 05 2025: Thingnam Rabikanta Singh clinched the gold medal in the -50 kg senior men's Kumite categoiy at the South Asian Karate Championship 2025, held at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Representing India under the Services Sports Control Board (SSCB), Rabikanta triumphed over his opponent from Bangladesh in the final bout to secure the top podium finish.

The bronze medals in the category went to competitors from Sri Lanka and Nepal.

Hailing from Kakching Khunou in Manipur, Rabikanta is the son of Th Ibochouba and Th Memcha Devi.

His latest victory adds to a growing list of achievements, having also secured a bronze medal at the Thailand Open Karate Championship 2025 earlier this year, according to a press release from the Manipur Amateur Karate-Do Association.
