Imphal, October 13 2025: The Manipur Adventure and Allied Sports Institute (MAASI) today pay tribute to State's late mountaineering hero Hidam Shyamkishor of Tentha on the occasion of 39th Bravery Day observance at Keirao today.

Hidam Shyamkishor was closely associated with MAASI as the founding member before he lost his life during an expedition to scale Mount Gangotri III, one of the most treacherous and unforgiving peaks in the world, in 1985 .

Shyamkishor, who brought laurels with numerous successful mountaineering expeditions was honoured with CM's State Award posthumously in 1986, recalled MAASI in a statement.

MAAI to celebrate Hidam Shyamkishore, observe October 13 as Bravery Day annually, it said while adding that a tarpan ritual in honour of the late mountaineer who once dreamt of conquering Mount Everest was offered today by the MAASI functionaries and other attendees as a part of the observance.
