AR, Arunachal emerge champions in Sentinels Cup

Imphal, July 13 2024:
Assam Rifles emerged winners of the Assam Rifles Sentinels Cup.
Assam Rifles got the better of 165 TA team in their final match played at Laitkor, Shillong.
Seven teams from Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Assam Rifles, 164 TA (H&H) and 165 TA (H&H) participated in the men's football tournament.
The first phase of the tournament was held at Dimapur in Nagaland.
DG Assam Rifles team, Meghalaya (Black Dynamite), 165 TA Team and Mizoram qualified for the semifinals.
The Sentinels Cup commenced on July 1, 2024 as the opening ceremony was attended by Maj Gen Manish Kumar, IGAR (North), while the closing event was attended by Lt Gen P C Nair.
Meanwhile, Arunachal Pradesh won the Sentinels Cup, Assam Rifles' inaugural women's football tournament.
Arunachal beat Assam Rifles in a thrilling final match that stretched to extra time.
The final was played at Laitkor, Shillong, with Lt Gen P C Nair, DG Assam Rifles, in attendance.
The tournament drew seven women football teams from Meghalaya, Assam, Nagaland, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram and Assam Rifles.
The first phase of the tournament was conducted at Lokra in Assam.
Earlier in the semifinals, Assam Rifles defeated Nagaland while Arunachal Pradesh beat Assam.
The Sentinels Cup commenced on June 30, 2024 at Lokra, Assam.
Governor of Assam Gulab Chand Kataria attended the opening ceremony, according to an IGAR (S) press release issued on Saturday.
