3rd National Sarit-Sarat Championship begins, Manipur amass 9 gold

Imphal, January 25 2026: Manipur won as many as 9 gold medals as the 3rd National Sarit-Sarak Championship began yesterday in Hyderabad.

The three-day championship is hosted by Sarit Sarat Association, Telangana under the aegis of the Sarit-Sarak Federation of India at GHMC Multipurpose Community Hall, Gandhi Nagar, Ramanthapur in Hyderabad.

As the championship entered the second day Manipur won 9 gold medals in Chainaba Ahanba and Anishuba events for sub-junior girls.

Maisnam Malemnganbi clinched the -35 kg category Chainaba Ahanba gold beating Maharashtra's Shreya Govind Rathod as Nameirakpam Yaiphabi beat Akshithi KR of Kerala for the -40 kg category title.

The day also saw Leichom Alina registering the -45 kg category gold medal defeating Pranali Narayan Mane of Maharashtra; Nongthombam Malemnganbi Chanu beat Amruta Nagaraj of Karnataka for the -50 kg title and Leimapokpam Langlensana beat Riya Borgohain for the +50 kg category gold.

Asnteena Mariya Jijo of Kerala meanwhile sealed the sub-junior girls' -35 kg category Chainaba Anisuba gold medal beating Shravani Tukaram Jadhav of Maharashtra as Leimapokpam Tapisana Chanu beat Pratiksha Parshuram of Maharashtra for the.-40 kg category gold.

The -45 kg category gold went to Manipur's Laishram Roseline Chanu who prevailed over Srusti Shahaji Giri of Maharashtra as Leimapokpam Thasana beat Kajal Kumari of Delhi for the -50 kg category gold and Sambandram Yaiphabi beat Irene Shaiju Daniyal of Kerala for the +50 kg category gold.
