Ukhrul, October 16 2026:
Coming down heavily against frequent attacks on Tangkhul Naga villages in Kamjong district, the Eastern Command of Naga Village Guard (NVG-EC) has vowed befitting response against the aggressive stance of the Kukis to protect its land, people and identity.
According to a statement issued by NVG-EC, on October 15, 2026, a team of Naga Village Guard-Eastern Command (NVG-EC) who were on patrolling duty came under heavy attack from the Kuki National Army-Burma (KNA-B) and Village Volunteers of Eastern Zone (VVEZ) near Huimin Thana along the Indo-Myanmar Border under Kamjong sub-division.
The incident occurred at around 4.30 pm on Thursday when a team of NVG-EC was on routine patrol duty in and around the Tangkhul Naga villages along the border, which had been left deserted following an armed external aggression on July 1, 2026 .
The NVG-EC team retaliated in defence and was able to push back the heavily armed militants of KNA-B and VVEZ .
The encounter lasted for about an hour and casualties were reported on both sides.
A civil defence volunteer of NVG-EC was grievously injured and rescued with support from the locals.
The injured person was immediately rushed to the Kamjong district hospital and had been administered necessary treatment.
Ever since the fateful incident of external aggression at Tangkhul Naga villages namely Z Choro, Wanglee and Namlee on May 7, 2026, the Kuki narco-terrorists and Myanmar based militants have been constantly unleashing terror at Naga villages located close to the Indo-Myanmar border.
On September 24 and October 10, 2026, a combined group of KNA-B and VVEZ brutally shot dead four villagers at Pilong and two civilians of Ningchou respectively.
In spite of the regular external aggression on the border villagers under Kamjong district, the concerned Government has repeatedly failed to protect and ensure security for the citizens .
The series of border attacks have so far claimed six innocent Naga civilians, several residential houses and other properties in different villages.
However, the responsible authorities have shown an obvious indifference to the critical circumstances facing the villagers.
The Eastern Command of Naga Village Guard (NVG-EC), vowed to fight back in defence of their ancestral land and people against the Kuki aggression.
"In this time of grave threat to our Nation, we call upon all the Naga youths to remain firm, courageous and stand united for our common cause", it said.
