Senapati, January 24 2026: Assam Rifles is all set to conduct the 5th Edition of Lt Col (Late) Robert TA Memorial Open Football Tournament from February 5, 2026 at Astro Turf Ground, Senapati, Manipur.

The tournament is organise to honour the legacy of Lt Col (Late) Robert TA, an officer of the Corps of Engineers, laid down his life in an avalanche in North Sikkim on 14 May, 2020 while serving the Nation.

He was the first officer from the Maram community to be commissioned into the Corps of Engineers.

An avid sportsman and adventurer, Lt Col Robert TA embodied courage, discipline and an unwavering commitment to duty.

His supreme sacrifice and inspirational life continue to motivate generations of youth.

The tournament was first organised in February, 2022 with 16 teams from Senapati District and has since grown steadily in scale and outreach.

The 5th edition will feature 20 teams competing in a league-cum-knockout format bringing together talented footballers from various districts and neighbouring regions.

The tournament is being organised by Assam Rifles in association with Senapati District Olympic Association, Manipur (SDOAM), with the aim of promoting sports, sportsmanship and providing a platform to showcase sporting talent.

It may be worth mentioning that the winning team of the tournament will fetch a cash prize of Rs 3.5 lakh while the runner up team will receive a cash prize of Rs 1.5 lakh respectively.

Cash prizes will also be awarded to the quarter finalists and semi-fi-nalists besides other individual prizes.
