Imphal, July 22 2025:
Manipur secured a slender 2-1 triumph over Odisha on Tuesday, registering their second consecutive win in the Junior Boys' National Football Championship for Dr BC Roy Trophy 2025-26 (Tier 1 - Group Stage) at Sahibzada Fateh Singh Football Stadium in Ferozepur, Punjab.
Khutleibam Sultan broke the deadlock in the 26th minute, slotting home a composed finish to give Manipur the lead.
The state boys controlled possession for much of the first half, with their disciplined defence ensuring they went into the break with a slender advantage.
After the interval, Odisha emerged with renewed intent and were rewarded in the 57th minute when Aman Lakra capitalised on a defensive lapse to equalise.
The goal injected fresh energy into the match, with both sides pushing for a winner.
However, Manipur regained their composure, and Amom Krish Singh restored their lead in the 70th minute with a clinical strike, beating the Odisha goalkeeper with precision.
Despite late pressure from Odisha, Manipur's defence held firm to collect all three points.
With two wins from two, Manipur now sit atop Group C on goal difference ahead of Karnataka, who also boast a perfect record.
The two table-toppers will face off in a high-stakes encounter on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at GNDU Sports Complex in Amritsar, Punjab, in what promises to be a decisive clash for group supremacy.
