Imphal West clinch State Level Boxing Championship title

Imphal, June 21 2024:
Imphal West were crowned team champions of the State Level Boxing Championship 2024 as the competition drew to a close on Friday.
The Imphal West boxers secured 90 points overall to clinch the championship title.
On the closing day, Imphal West made the most of the elite event, winning five gold medals.
In addition, they secured one gold medal in the youth event.
Laishram Edipak Singh (elite men -51kg), Kingson Pukhrambam (elite men-57kg), Konjengbam Roshan (elite men -60kg), Thongam Bikiraj (elite men -67kg) and Huidrom Ambeshori Devi (elite women -63kg) all prevailed in their respective final matches.
On the other hand, Pebam Seleucus Meitei defeated Bishnupur's Md Sharif Khan in the final of the youth men -80kg category to hand Imphal West another gold medal on the final day of the championship.
Amarjit Takhellambam Singh of Bishnupur was adjudged the best boxer in the youth category while Sarangthem Linthoi Chanu of Imphal East was named the best boxer in the school age group.
On the other hand, the titles of the best promising boxers went to Gershom Awungshi of Ukhrul in the male school age category and Lumkainliu Kamei (SPL-B) in the female school age category.
Kakching gained 82 points to finish runners up while Bishnupur took third place with 77 points.
