Organising Committee formed for inaugural Thoubal District Olympic Games

Thoubal, August 20 2025: The Thoubal District Olympic Association has set up the Organising Committee for the first-ever Thoubal District Olympic Games, to be held from September 24 to 28, 2025 .

The event will feature competitions in 20 sporting disciplines across multiple venues in the district.

The Organising Committee was formally constituted during a meeting at the deputy commissioner's office, Thoubal, chaired by deputy commissioner Hannah Kahmei.

The meeting brought together representatives of district-level sports associations, senior sports promoters, heads of institutions, social organisations, and district-level officers.

To ensure smooth conduct of the Games, deputy commissioner Hannah Kahmei will serve as chairperson, while M Mani Singh, president of the District Olympic Association (DOA) Thoubal, has been appointed working chairman.

M Madhusudon Singh, DOA secretary, will act as organising secretary, and senior SP Thoubal Shivananda Surve will serve as vice chairman.

Organised under the guidance of the Manipur Olympic Association and with support from the district administration, the Games are expected to draw active participation from educational institutions, government departments, NGOs, business communities and sports enthusiasts.

The Department of Youth Affairs and Sports (YAS) will also extend necessary assistance.

Over 2,000 participants are expected to take part in the competitions.

The Games Technical Conduct Committee (GTCC) has been formed with Deven Moirangthem, DYASO Thoubal, as chairman.

Appealing for public support, deputy commissioner Hannah Kahmei and senior SP Shivananda Surve expressed confidence that the Games would not only mark a historic sporting milestone for Thoubal but also strengthen the sports movement and community spirit in the district.
