18th Governor's Taekwondo Cup 2025 kicks off at Khuman Lampak

The 18th Governor's Taekwondo Cup Manipur 2025 got underway on Thursday at the Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium, with UTA dominating the first day of the competition by securing eight gold medals across various age and weight categories.
In the senior male U-87 kg category, Yumnam Ban-gkim Meitei of UTA claimed gold, while his teammate Toijam Tondonsana Meitei took silver.
Similarly, Jetlee Chabungbam of PTA secured gold in the senior male U-74 kg class, with Soyam Achouba Singh of UTA earning silver.

Among the youngest athletes, Korou Laikangbam of HATA clinched gold in the Pee Wee boys U-26 kg category.
Meanwhile, in the senior male U-87 kg class, Saikhom Jemsh Singh (TTA) emerged victorious.
The junior girls' competition, Meisnam Nganthoi Chanu of TTA triumphed in the junior girls U-42 kg, and Mayengbam Telesia Devi of MSTA bagged gold in the junior girls U-44 kg division, with Jetnika Moirangthem and Nongthombam Yaisana completing the podium.
In the senior girls U-73 kg, Chanam Lilybala Chanu (UTA) secured the top spot, while Khomdram Lingjelleibi Chanu of PTA settled for silver.
The junior boys U-45 kg event was dominated by Nivasis Moirangthem of SAI, followed by Thomson Ahanthem (UTA), Aaron Chandam (KTA), and Moirangthem Manithoi (UTA) .
In the junior boys U-48 kg, Laishram Rohit (HIM) took gold, ahead of Saikhom Nungshiba (TTA), Sanathoi Shougrakpam Meitei (NSA), and Nongthombam Bikash (SAI) .
The junior girls U-49 kg division saw Kongbrailakpam Sonia Devi of NSA earn gold, followed by Ngashedam Ayinobi Devi (Maverick) and Kangujam Khristina Devi (IMRTA) .
Ghari Luxmi Phuraillatpam (NSA) secured gold in the Junior Girls U-63 kg, while Umelly Mangshatabam of UTA triumphed in the senior girls U-67 kg class, with Soraisam Lamnganbi Chanu taking silver.
In the Pee Wee girls U-22 kg, Gia N (UTA) took top honours, followed by Leimalembi Moirangthem (TTA), Khumukcham Eraileima, and Oinam Melleona, both from UTA.
Leishemba Moirangthem (TTA) won gold in the Pee Wee girls U-24 kg division, with Kevina Akoijam (UTA), Nebiah Yambem (HA), and Liya Yumnam (TJS) claiming the remaining podium places.
In the senior male U-80 kg, Huidrom Devajit Singh (UTA) bagged gold, with Khumalambam Amubi Singh (PTA) taking silver.
The senior male U-63 kg was won by Ningthoujam Surdeep (UTA), followed by Laishram Newton Singh (LTA), Kojam Kiran Singh, and Thounaojam Henary Meitei.
Anish Saikhom (TTA) emerged victorious in the senior male U-68 kg, ahead of Sh Devraaj Sharma (UTA) and L Yaiphaba Meitei (UTA).
Pheiroijam Neron Singh of UTA clinched gold in the Pee Wee boys U-29 kg, while Garrick Heiyalu Ngangom (BTA) won in the U-32 kg class.
Korounganba Tekcham (TTS) took silver, and Pukhrambam Wanglen Khuman (UTA) earned bronze.
Taibanganba Hijam (LFC) took gold in the Pee Wee boys U-35 kg category.
Lambamayum Pradip (UTA) triumphed in the senior male U-54 kg, with Saikhom Rohit Singh (TTA), Nongmaithem Umakanta (UTA), and Naimon Devjit Singh (LTA) securing the other medals.
In the senior male U-58 kg, Leitanthem Rohit Singh (LTA) won gold, with N Redash Singh and Thangjam Jack Singh, both from UTA, finishing with silver and bronze respectively.
