FCR, SSU ease to wins in 2nd Premier League

Imphal, June 15 2025: FC Raengdai and SSU recorded decisive victories in the 2nd Premier League 2025-26 at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong, on Sunday.

A clinical FC Raengdai side stormed to a 7-1 triumph over Angtha FC, powered by braces from Shoraisham Sagar Singh and Giftson Kamei.

Despite a bright start from Angtha FC, who took an early lead through Amom Yohenba Meitei in the 10th minute, Raengdai swiftly turned the tide.

Sagar equalised in the 16th minute, before Giftson put them ahead in the 27th.Sagar then converted a penalty in the 42nd minute, making it 3-1, and Thoudam Bungcha Singh extended the advantage just a minute later.

Gailalung Gonmei added a fifth in first-half stoppage time (45+3), before Ganninam Malangmei and Giftson 85') completed the rout in the second half, sealing a comprehensive victory.

Meanwhile, SSU cruised to a 5-2 win against ABA, with Yumnam Joychandra and Laishram Roshan both netting twice.

Joychandra opened the scoring in the 8th minute, before Roshan struck twice in quick succession (36', 44') to give SSU a commanding 3-0 lead at the break.

After the break, Md Aruwas Khan pulled one back for ABA in the 72nd minute, reigniting hopes of a comeback.

However, Joychandra swiftly responded for SSU, netting another goal just three minutes later in the 75th minute.

Teammate Md Shuaib then sealed the victory in style, hammering home SSU's fifth goal in the 88th minute to put the game beyond doubt.

The next fixtures on June 17 (Tuesday) will feature four matches across both groups.

In Group B, KIYC take on SU at 8 am, followed by DMRAO versus UDO at 10 am.

Meanwhile, in Group A, AMOFA face WAFA at 1 pm, while IYFC meet RAU at 3 pm .
