PTRC defeat TRAU by 44 runs in MNCA Elite Tournament

PTRC secured a convincing 44-run victory over TRAU in Friday's fixture of the 9th MNCA Elite Tournament 2024-25, held at Moijing Public Ground, Thoubal.
A solid batting display, followed by a disciplined bowling performance, ensured PTRC's success as they comfortably defended their total.
Electing to bat first, PTRC posted a formidable total of 224/5 .
Their innings was anchored by an excellent unbeaten 70 from Chingakham Bidash Meitei, who played a crucial role in guiding his side to a competitive total.
He was well-supported by Loitongbam Shitaljit, who compiled a well-crafted 52.Ngariyanbam Jameson (41) and Khangembam Santosh (32) made valuable contributions, ensuring the scoreboard kept ticking.
Towards the end, Salam Richie (8 not out) added finishing touches to the innings.
TRAU's bowling attack struggled to stem the flow of runs but managed to claim five wickets.
Mutum Swabhiman was the most successful bowler, taking two wickets, while Somorjit Salam and Thangjam Rishi picked up one wicket each.
Chasing a target of 225, TRAU's innings revolved around a valiant effort from Priyojit Kangabam, who played a superb knock of 86 runs.
However, his efforts went in vain as TRAU lost wickets at regular intervals, preventing them from building any significant partnerships.
As a result, they were bowled out for 180 in 31.4 overs, falling 44 runs short of the target.
PTRC's bowling unit delivered a clinical performance.
Raj Kumar Rex and Deepak led the attack, claiming two wickets each, while Laitonjam Jackson, Tamarland Pheiroijam, and Loitongbam Shitaljit took one wicket apiece.
Their disciplined bowling ensured TRAU never gained the momentum needed to complete the chase.
