Central High School team wins 2nd Chalou Football Tournament

The 2nd Chalou Football Tournament concluded on Friday at Chalou Football Ground with a thrilling final and vibrant cultural showcase.
Held from June 21 to July 4, 2025, the tournament featured 34 teams from across Imphal East district, competing in a 9-a-side format.
The final saw Central High School defeat Nongren FC 4-1 in a high-energy match.
Over the two-week event, young footballers displayed impressive talent, with standout goals and fierce competition highlighting the region's sporting spirit.
The tournament also promoted unity and youth engagement within the community.
Individual awards went to Kh Azlan (Nongren FC) as best player, Tongbran Basan (Central High School) as best goalkeeper, and Monish (Central High School), who was the top scorer with four goals.
A colourful cultural performance by local artists added to the festive atmosphere, celebrating the rich heritage of Chalou village.
Organised by Chalou Football Club in collaboration with the Indian Army under Operation Sadbhavna, the event was graced by the General Officer Commanding, Red Shield Division, as chief guest, along with senior military officials and community leaders.
In his address, the GOC reiterated the Anny's commitment to supporting sports, education, culture, and skill development in Manipur.
Beyond the competition, the tournament served as a platform to harness youth potential and promote the growing football culture in the state, often hailed as India's sporting heartbeat.
