PTRC, CRAU secure wins in MNCA Elite Tournament clashes

PTRC and CRAU emerged victorious in Wednesday's fixtures of the 9th MNCA Elite Tournament 2024-25, delivering compelling performances in their respective league matches.
At Lairenjam Public Ground, PTRC chased down a target of 145 with four wickets to spare, overcoming REYS in a tightly contested encounter.
Opting to bat first, REYS were bowled out for 144 in 38.2 overs, with Kiran Laishram (41) and Yungkham Romario Roy anchoring their innings.
PTRC's bowling attack proved decisive, as Jotin Pheiroijam and Bishworjit Konthoujam claimed four wickets apiece, supported by Chingakham Bidash's two scalps.
In reply, FTRC sealed the chase in 29.5 overs despite losing six wickets.
Ngariyanbam Jameson spearheaded the effort with a composed 55, ably assisted by Khangembam Santosh (35) and Jotin Pheiroijam (20).Late contributions from Raj Kumar Rex (13) and an unbeaten partnership between Loitongbam Shitaljit (5*) and Bishworjit Konthoujam (2*) ensured their side crossed the line.
REYS' Dingku G impressed with a four-wicket haul but could not prevent defeat.
Meanwhile, CRAU edged past KCC by 17 runs in a low-scoring thriller at Moijing Public Ground in Thoubal.
Batting first, CRAU posted 144 in 37.5 overs, with Lamabam Ajay (43), Khumanthem Prakash (36), and Thongam Joychandra (28) leading the charge.
KCC's Sunil Salam starred with four wickets, while Nameirakpam Arbin and Tayenjam Tomba claimed two each.
In response, KCC faltered under pressure, bowled out for 127 in 37.5 overs despite a valiant effort.
CRAU's bowlers shared the spoils: Ajay and Prakash bagged three wickets each, Joychandra added two, and Heishnam Joyhenba and Bm Sabakhan chipped in with one apiece to secure the win.
