YWC beat REYS by 5 wickets to defend Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament title

YWC, Langthabal successfully defended their Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament title by handing REYS, Nagamapal a 5-wicket defeat in the final of the 22nd edition of the tournament today at Langthabal Public Ground.
REYS raised a modest total of 153 runs for the loss of 9 wickets after they won the toss and elected to bat first.
But defending champions YWC eased to the target in 27.2 overs with 5 wickets left to spare.
Bonny scored the highest 61 for REYS in the first innings off 86 deliveries.
Jitender (19 off 16), Superjit (13 off 10), and Maikel (11 not out off 12) were the other double digit run getters for REYS today in an innings that saw Prakashmani enjoying a three wicket haul (3/18 in 6 overs) and Tejkumar picked two (2/28 in 6 overs).
Priyokumar (1/18), Rojeshkumar (1/9) and Samananda (1/39) were also among the wickets for YWC.
In reply, Prakashmani (27 off 35), Tejkumar (28 off 39), Sasi (27 off 32) and Gojendro (16 off 18) set the tone for before Manaobi (25 not out off 16) and Ashokumar (16 not out off 18) produced an unbeaten 6th wicket stand to finish off the chase.
Iboyaima returned with the best figures of 3/31 for REYS as Nondren (1/21) and Supeijit (1/20) claimed a wicket apiece.
Prakashamani who shone with both the bat and ball was adjudged man of the final match while his compatriot L Tejkumar bagged the man of the series trophy as he scored 102 runs and picked 17 wickets during the tournament.
REYS meanwhile sealed the best batsman and best bowler accolades with Bonny amassing 263 runs in 8 innings and L Superjit claiming 19 wickets.
