RULE, RCA, SCCC advance to MNCA Mens U-23 Tournament semis

RULE, RCA and SCCC all made it to the semifinals of the 1st MNCA Mens U-23 Tournament 2023-24, following their quarterfinal triumphs on Friday.
Sanjembam Somokanta Khuman dazzled with the ball as RULE booked their place in the last four with a four-wicket win over YWC in their quarterfinal encounter at Model Hr Secondary & Oriental College Ground.
Somokanta unleashed a lethal bowling spell to help RULE bundle out YWC for 89 in 25.1 overs after the latter elected to bat.
Rojit Singh Angomcha also made an impact with the ball, claiming two scalps, and Boocker Kangjam chipped in with one.
The YWC innings saw only Seram Robinson (26), Soubam Robinson Singh (21 not out) and Yumnam Athouba (17) get into double figures.
After their fantastic bowling performance, RULE took 29.1 overs to achieve the target, losing six wickets in the process.
During the chase, Sanjenbam Ananda Singh top-scored with 29, followed by Jay Singh (23), Rojit Singh Angomcha (10 not out), Sanjenbam Suresh (7), Boocker Kangjam (3 not out) and Rajkumar Herachandra Singh (2) .
For YWC, Yenshenbam Vivek Singh picked up three wickets, Sorokhaibam Dailish Singh took two and Heisnam Manikanta Singh bagged one in defeat.
RCA beat TCMDC by 36 runs in a low-scoring quarterfinal contest at Lairenjam Public Ground.
RCA chose to bat and scored 132 after being dismissed in 36.4 overs.
In the innings, Syed Hussain (33), Md Alfash (23), Zamir Khan (17), Iliyas (11) and Md Danish Khan (10) were key contributors to their total.
The bowling unit made up for RCA's below-par batting display by ending TCMDC's run chase in 31.4 overs for 96, propelling their team to the semifinals.
Naesh Hussain was the standout bowler for RCA with four wickets as Zuned snapped two, with Aziz Mirza, Iliyas, Md Danish Khan and Nawas sharif each taking one.
Earlier, Ringku Kangujam and Rain Urikhimbam were the main wicket-takers for TCMDC, claiming three and two scalps respectively.
At Moijing Public Ground (Thoubal), SCCC outclassed CRAU by 94 runs in other quarterfinal match reduced to 33 overs.
Deciding to bat, SCCC posted a respectable 232/5 .
Basant led the way, hitting an unbeaten 96 off 55 balls.
Lishan Meitei Khaidem did his bit with 49 as Ankit Prasad scored 24, Abdul Rahim remained unbeaten on 14 and Vicky Yungkham contributed 11 .
For CRAU, Lamabam Jotin Singh took two wickets while Bm Sabakhan, Kh Lohitsun and Heishnam Joyhenba Meitei got one apiece.
SCCC followed up with a brilliant bowling effort to bowl out CRAU in 25.3 overs for 142 .
Shyam Kumar Ray emerged as the bowling star for SCCC with a haul of five wickets while Rex Waikhom picked up two, with Bicky Kumar Das and Basant contributing one each in their resounding win enroute to the last four.
Meanwhile, the quarterfinal match between KASC and YUCC was rescheduled on Friday for Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Lairenjam Public Ground.
