RAU, SSU win; DMRAO, ASUFII share spoils in Premier League

Imphal, June 20 2025: Rising Athletic Union (RAU), Lairikyengbam Leikai and Southern Sporting Union (SSU), Singjamei emerged victorious in today's Group A matches of the 2nd Premier League at Sekmai Koujengleima ground as DMRAO drew ASUFII FA to a 1-1 draw in a Group B match.

In the first ground, DMRAO rode on Ngangbam Telheiba's equaliser in the 64th minute to salvage a point against ASUFII FA who enjoyed a slender 1-0 first half lead thanks to Oinam Shital's 30th minute strike.

In the second ground, SSU rode on doubles from Naorem Kishan and Laishram Roshan to beat Imphal Youth Football Club (IYFC) 4-2 .

SSU and IYFC were levelled at 2-2 at half time but Kishan and Roshan who netted a goal apiece in the first half registered one goal apiece in the second half as well to seal the victory of SSU.

Roshan broke the deadlock early in the second minute before IYFC cancelled the lead in the 14th minute through Malemnganba.

SSU regained the lead when Naorem Kishan scored in the 24th minute but Wangkhem Suraj scored three minutes into the added time of the first half (45+3') to make it 2-2 at half-time.

After the restart, the two sides fought to find the winner but their search remained elusive until Kishan scored his second in the 75th minute to make it 3-1 before Roshan scored two minutes away from time to wind up the game 4-2.Later in the day, RAU beat WAFA, Wangoi 1-0 courtesy of Md Sohail's 34th minute goal to extend their winning run to 4 games and unbeaten run to 6 games.

With the results, RAU climbed to second on 14 points behind league leaders FC Raengdai who had registered 5 wins and a draw in 6 matches while SSU went third on 13 points from 4 wins and a draw.
