Kurash Association of Manipur revels in medal feat at Junior Nationals

Imphal, January 16 2026:
The Kurash Association of Manipur (KUAM) expressed happiness over its 2-medal feat at the 13th Junior National Kurash Championship, 2025-26 that was held from January 8 to 11 at Patna, Bihar.
KUAM, in a press release, said that its endeavour to groom and produce noteworthy athletes have started bearing fruits with two State players, out of total 9 athletes, securing a gold and a silver medal at the said championship.
Notably, Moirangthem Niketan Meitei, who participated in the U-17 men's -55 kg category competition, clinched a gold medal while Hijem Hemchan Luwang bagged a silver medal in the U-20 men's -60 kg category competition, it said.
The State team were led by Soibam Leishemba and S Ranbir as coach and manager respectively, it said while attributing the success to the hard work of the athletes and the guidance of the KUAM executive members including president Ningombam Ibochouba who is also the managing director of BIPL.
Highlighting the significance of the discipline and its popularity in the continental event and National competition such as School Games, KUAM also drew the attention of the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports to work out possible financial assistance and help promote the discipline in the State.
