IYFC edge Angtha FC 2-1 in 2nd Premier League

Imphal, May 12 2025: Imphal Youth Football Club (IYFC) edged past Angtha FC by 2-1 goals in a Group A match today in the 2nd Premier League 2025-26 at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong.

Ningthoujam George starred with a double as IYFC who suffered their first game loss to WAFA, Wangoi in the previous sealed their first win today against the Angtha side.

Georged earned IYFC a 1-0 first half lead netting his first goal in the 18th minute.

Although Angtha FC cancelled the lead through Laishram Rabichandra, who came off the bench after the break, in the 54th minute, the parity did not last long as George found the target again in the 62nd minute to retain the lead for IYFC.

IYFC then thwarted pressure from Angtha FC to see out the game 2-1.In the Group A match staged earlier in the morning, SSU, Singjamei had played out a 1-1 draw with RAU, Lamlong Thongkhong.

RAU found the lead early in the second minute as Moirangthem Somokanta caught SSU defence by surprise but their lead was cancelled in the 55th minute as Ningombam Kabiraj Singh made the most of a chance to net the equaliser.

Meanwhile in a Group B match staged this afternoon, UDO, Heingang played out a goalless draw with United Chandel FC who had registered a commanding 3-0 win against AIM, Khabam in their opening match.

It was the second draw for UDO in three matches after registering a 2-1 win against KIYC in their opening match.
