Imphal, November 09 2025: In a story that warms the heart and sparks inspiration, eight-year-old Aahen Meitram of Sega Road Takhel Leikai is ready to trade her local playground for the National arena.

The prodigious young talent has been officially selected to represent the State of Maharashtra at the prestigious 63rd National Roller Hockey Championship, scheduled to be held from December 5 to 15, 2025, in Visakhapatnam.

Her selection is a remarkable feat, not just for her skill, but for her age - she is the youngest member selected for her team, holding her own against competitors a year older.

The news has sent waves of joy through her family and community.

For her parents, Meitram Niraj Luwang and Ambica Shougrakpam, seeing their daughter's name on the team list was a moment of overwhelming pride.

"We always knew she was fearless on her skates but to see her get this opportunity so young is beyond our dreams," he said.

Her family added that they are indebted to Pune coach Abhijeet Chaudhary for his unfailing mentorship and for introducing her to the world of roller hockey.

The championship, a premier event for roller sports in India, features various age brackets, including Cadets (9-12 years), Sub-junior (12-15 years), and Junior & Senior (15-18 years).

Aahen will be lacing up her skates in the foundational Tiny Tots category (for ages 6-9), where the Nation's future hockey stars first get a taste of high-stakes competition.

The National Roller Hockey Championship is a structured platform that nurtures talent from the grassroots level, with categories ranging from Tiny Tots all the way to Junior & Senior.

Aahen's journey in the Tiny Tots bracket will be the first crucial step on this competitive ladder.

While the coastal city of Vizag prepares to host the Nation's best, a piece of Imphal's heart will be there, weaving through opponents on the polished rink.
