Checkmates FC crowned champions in CRPF-organised Football tournament

Senapati, December 31 2025: Checkmates FC displayed exceptional tactical prowess and stamina to seal a hard-fought final victory over Heudu FC yesterday in the Open Football Tournament that was organised by 109 Bn CRPF in collaboration with Senapati District Olympic Association, Manipur and Sports Authority of India under the aegis of Manipur & Nagaland Sector, CRPF.

The tournament was organised as a part of Government of India's 'Khelo India' initiative.

The closing event was graced by Shaikh Mohd Zaib Zakir, IPS, SP Senapati as the chief guest.

In his address, he lauded the CRPF's efforts in channelizing the energy of the youth towards constructive activities and fostering a culture of fitness and discipline in the region.

Suresh Kumar, Commandant, 169 Bn, CRPF, also attended as a special guest.

On behalf of Brijesh Kumar Commandant 109 Bn, Alok Kumar, Dy Commandant expressed profound gratitude to the diverse assembly of guests.

He emphasized that the success of such initiatives was not possible without the unwavering support of local stakeholders.

Alok Kumar also said sports are a powerful tool for promoting discipline and peace.

Through this tournament, the central armed forces aimed to ensure that the youth of Senapati see the CRPF not just as a security force, but as a partner in their growth and development, he added.

The ceremony concluded with the distribution of trophies and medals to the winners and participants.
