Thang-Ta listed in AIU Annual Sports Calendar, HLTTA rejoices

Imphal, August 29 2025: Huyel Langlon Thang-Ta Association (HLTTA) expressed delight as the Association of India Universities (AIU) listed Thang-Ta in the Annual Sports Calendar 2025-26 .

It has been a long standing appeal to the AIU to include the indigenous martial art-form Thang-Ta in the sports calendar, said HLTTA in a press release.

HLTTA also credited Manipur University's Vice Chancellor Prof N Lokendra for his earnest and relentless effort towards the cause and extended best wishes to all his future endeavours.

With Thang-Ta being included in the AIU's Sports Calendar, students from various universities across the country will be able to showcase their talents and compete for top honours in the All India University Games, it said.

HLTTA went on to express utmost respect and gratitude to the Association of Indian University for their considerate and thoughtful move to include the discipline in the said calendar.
