The second round of the 1st Kanglei Chess Academy Inter-School Chess Tournament 2025 was held on Thursday, delivering a series of competitive matches across multiple age categories.
Top-seeded players demonstrated their dominance, with Mangai Elangbam (IRtg 1710) securing a decisive victory against LK Worchir, while Dayanand Thoudam (IRtg 1607) and Khuman Einstein Maibam (IRtg 1562) also claimed wins, reinforcing their strong positions in the tournament.
The round saw several impressive performances from unrated competitors, including Aribam Punaraj Sharma and Nongdrenkhomba Thongamcha, who overcame their opponents despite their lack of official ratings.
A notable upset occurred when unrated Yaiphaba Yumnam defeated Kharibam Dhanaraj Singh, proving that rankings do not always dictate outcomes.
In the youngest category (I & Below), emerging talents such as Telheiba Maibam and Dingchamlung Victor Gangmei advanced, highlighting the depth of skill among the tournament's youngest participants.
