MU names badminton teams for East Zone Inter University tourney

Imphal, November 27 2025: The Department of Sports, Manipur University has announced the names of players selected in the men and women's teams for the East Zone Inter University Badminton Tournament for Men and Women.

The players who made it to the men's team for the tournament to be held from December 17 to 21 are Singam Jomi of Thambal Marik College, Pfoki Liruna of Kamkhya Pemton College, H Rohendrakumar of Mangolnganbi College, RK Alen of Mangolnganbi College, Wahengbam Juvraj of Pole Star College and Shaikhom Gung of YK College.

The players in the women's team for the tournament due to be held from December 20 to 24 include Lourembam Sheetal of Ng Mani College, M Priya of Shree Shree Gourgovind Girls' College, Thoudam Mercy of Manipur University and Soraisham Kanchan of Imphal College.

The players should report to the Assistant Director of Sports, MU on December 2 at 10.30 am for further directives, said an order issued in this regard.

The university team for All India Inter University Athletics (M&W) Meet, 2025-26 were also announced.

The athletes who made it to the university team for the meet due to be hosted by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bengaluru from January 12 to 16 are Th Suraj of Nambol L Sanoi College (100 m race), T Johnson of Manipur College (200 m race), W Malem of Pravabati College (400 m), Kh Wahid of Pravabati College (800 m race), Sujit Kumar of NB College (800 m race), Md Badaruddin of Kha Manipur College (1500 m race), Md Kurbas Khan of Lilong Haoreibi College (1500 m race), Kh Zabed Hussain of Lilong Haoreibi College (5000 m race), Md Rahish Khan of Lilong Haoreibi College (10000 m race), Y Bebeysana of WMC (200 m race), Tayenjam Russia SSGG College (5000 m race), and Thangjam Nigita of NB College (20 km walk).

The athletes should report to the Assistant Director of Sports, MU on December 3 at 11 am for further directives, said an order issued in this regard.
