Imphal, May 18 2025: State armwrestlers who contributed 9 medals including 3 gold, 5 silver and 1 bronze medals to the National tally at the recently concluded 23rd Asian and 22nd Asian Para Armwrestling Championships were accorded a warm reception today.

The championships were held from May 6 to 11 in New Delhi.

The reception programme was organised by Manipur Armwrestling Association at UYO ground, Singjamei Thongkhong (Bheigyabati Leikai) in the presence of Dr M Veto, Director YAS; Dr L Sarat, president Manipur Armwrestling Association; and L Deven, vice president Manipur Armwrestling Association as presidium members.

Notably, Rohit Sharma won two silver medals, one each in the right arm and left arm competitions for subjunior boys' 50 kg category.

Lamyanba Thangjam in the meantime won a silver medal in the sub-junior boys' 65 kg category left arm competition as Nicholas Thounaojam won a gold and a silver medal respectively in the sub-junior boys' 70 kg category right and left arm competitions.

Paolinlong meanwhile bagged the second gold medal in the above 40 years 70 kg category left arm competition after settling for a silver medal in the left hand event.

M Jeevan in the meantime picked the other gold medal in the above 50 years 90 kg category right arm event and a bronze medal in the left arm event.
