State Judokas win two gold, one silver in Taipei

Imphal, July 16 2025: Three young judokas from Manipur delivered remarkable performances for India at the Taipei Junior Asian Cup 2025 on Wednesday in Chinese Taipei, earning the country two gold and one silver medal.

Khaidem Taibanganbi Chanu claimed gold in the -70kg women's category, overpowering the host country's contender in the final bout.

Leishangthem Nungshithoi Chanu followed suit, securing another gold in the fiercely contested -52kg women's category, again defeating a strong opponent from Chinese Taipei.

In the men's -90kg category, Ningthoujam Shital clinched a silver medal after a closely fought final against a local favourite from the host country.

All three judokas were trained under the guidance of coach Kh Gunamani, who hails from Mayang Imphal, Imphal West.

Their outstanding achievements not only brought laurels to Manipur but also reinforced the state's growing prominence in judo on the international stage.
