U-19 Women's Football: YWC-L thrash YWC-Th 5-2 to squeeze into semis

Imphal, February 06 2026:
Young Welfare Club, Langthabal (YWC-L) defeated Youth Welfare Club, Thambalkhong (YWC-Th) by 5-2 goals in a crucial and the final Group B match to squeeze into semi-finals of the U-19 Women's Football Tournament 2025-26 at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong.
It was the third win for YWC-L, who went down 0-2 to table toppers, FC Imphal, Kwakeithel, in the 5-team league campaign and eventually finished league runners up to qualify for the semifinals.
In the must-win game for both the teams, YWC-Th and YWC-L started cautiously until YWC-Th found the breakthrough in the 13th minute Irom Priyadashini.
The momentum however shifted with YWC-L stringing a series of attacks and drew level in the 18th minute through Chingangbam Binomala.
It was no looking back for YWC-L since then as Maibam Nandeshwori overturned the lead in the 25th minute and Sorokhaibam Silky made it 3-1 in the 30th minute.
Nandeshwori bounced back with another goal in the 35th minute to make it 4-1 at half time before Thounaojam Martina halved the deficit for YWC-Th in the 75th minute with a goal.
YWC-L however retained the three goal cushion and the eventual 5-2 win thanks to S Silky Devi's 83rd minute strike.
Earlier in the day, ESU, Wangkhei Palace Compound ended their Group B campaign with 3-0 win ICSA, Irengbam.
ICSA and ESU played out the first half goalless before Khumanthem Roshibina who subbed in for Sanasam Jesika at half time ended the goal drought two minutes into the second half.
Gurumayum Anjali doubled the advantage in the 56th minute before Roshibina scored her second and team's third in the 73rd minute.
