16th Loktak Trophy Invitation Football Tournament underway

Imphal, January 27 2026: The 16th edition of the Loktak Trophy Invitation Football Tournament commenced this afternoon at Moirang Multipurpose Higher Secondary School Ground, Moirang.

The tournament, sponsored by NHPC, Loktak Project, was formally opened in the presence of Pooja Elangbam, DC Bishnupur; Mairembam Prithiviraj, former MLA, Moirang AC; Th Shangkar Deba, SP, Bishnupur; Prof Dr K Rajchandra, HOD Transfusion Medicine, RIMS; and M Ashok, ex-president, AMOFA, Moirang as presidium members.

The opening match of the 6-team tournament saw Utlou FC thump AKSA, Kwakta by 2-0 goals.

Jackson gave Utlou FC a 1-0 first half lead with his 39th minute strike before Ch Shrinivash rounded off the scoring in the 51st minute.

The top two teams after round robin league will qualify for the title clash.

RFCC, Keinou will play FC Kumbi in the next match on January 29 at the same venue.

The match starts at 2.30 pm .
