Waikhom Sonia clinches fencing gold at MUG 2024-25

Imphal, November 26 2025: Waikhom Sonia Devi earned Manipur University a gold medal in the 5th Khelo India University Games, 2024-25 being under way in Kota, Rajasthan.

Waikhom Sonia of Kakching Khunou College sealed the gold medal by defeating fellow Manipuri Naorem Mina Devi, a former MU player but now representing Guru Kashi University, in the individual foil final today.

In the one sided final, Sonia won 15-4 and successfully defended her title from the previous edition hosted in Guwahati last year.

The MU Fencing team are led by Ayekpam Dhanapyari Devi, Assistant Professor, TS Paul Manipur Women's College as the University Sports Manager (USM) .
