Imphal, September 24 2025: Manipur capped the 36 th East Zone Junior Athletics Championships with 3 silver and 1 bronze medals as Sharungbam Joyhenba fetched a shot put silver on the final day of the 3-day event in Ranchi.

Sharungbam Joyhenba recorded second best 13.36 m throw to add a silver medal to State's tally after Sorokhaibam Jenish and Thangjam Nigita won 5000 m racewalk silver medals yesterday at Morabadi Football Stadium, Ranchi.

Ommkar Prasad Nanda of Odisha won the gold medal with the best throw of 16.64 m while Ankit Kumar of Bihar recorded third best 12.66 m throw.

Yesterday, Sorokhaibam Jenish Meitei and Thokchom Panan Meitei made 2-3 podium finish in the U-l 8 men's 5000 m race walk event to earn a silver and a bronze medal apiece.

Firdous Alam of Assam fetched the gold medal of the event in 22:01.69 as Sorokhaibam Jenish clocked 22:15.40 and Panan clocked 22:21.71 to finish second and third.

Nigita, on the other hand, won U-20 women's 5000 m racewalk silver with a time of 26 minutes 54.41 .
