Nagaland 216/7 at stumps on Day 3, take 192-run lead

Imphal, December 18 2025: Nagaland were 216/7 at stumps on Day 3 to take a 192-run lead against Manipur in their fifth plate group tie of the Cooch Behar Trophy at Gokulbhai Somabhai Patel Stadium in Nadiad.

Earlier in the day, Manipur added 53 runs to the overnight score of 244/8 (in 73 overs) to amass first innings total of 297 runs and take a slender 24-run lead against Nagaland, who were dismissed for 273 runs in the first innings.

Naesh who resumed the innings on 15 with Chingkhei Nganba put up a fighting 58-ball 51 (2 fours and 1 six) to ensure Manipur enjoy the innings lead after yesterday's significant contributions from Ali Karim on 68 off 118 (8 fours and 1 six), Th Lucky 45 off 59 (7 fours), and Lanchenba on 42 off 104 (5 fours).

Aloto Sumi of Nagaland returned with the best bowling figures of 6/86 in his spell of 27 overs in the innings as Samir Ali posted 2/ 25 in 8.1 overs.

Continuing the day, Nagaland got off to a good start with Shyerinlo Thong 59 off 86 and Tachuye Trakha 22 off 82 forging but Chingkhei Nganba broke the partnership by removing Shyerinlo Thong in the 28th over before Lanchenba inflicted more damage by getting rid of Tachuye Trakha, Aloto Sumi 9 off 35 and Jesevilie Dzeyie 18 to leave them struggling at 131/4 in 47.2 overs.

Saikhom Kaiku further reduced Nagaland to 132/5 as he caught and bowled incoming Thupoluzo on 1.Samir Ali, who came in at number 4, tried to calm things down by stitching an 83-run partnership with Vizelotuo Zhale but Chingkhei Nganba returned to action and bowled out Samir Ali on an 81-ball 51 in the third delivery of the 71st over to snap out the danger before sending back incoming Anurag Gupta on a 3-ball duck in the closing delivery of the same over to complete his haul of three wickets Vizelotuo Zhale 27 off 75 and Darsh Choudhary 0 off 10 were unbeaten as Nagaland closed out the day at 216/7.Notably, Md Danish (4/84 in 24 overs), Yumnam Chingkheinganba (2/48), Naesh (1/29), Kaiku (1/16), and Sougaijam Robinson (1/ 2) played their part well to bowl out Nagaland for 273 runs in the first innings despite crucial knocks from Aloto Sumi 55 off 169, Vizoletuo Zhale 44 off 98, Samir Ali 39 off 64, and Darsh Choudhary 29 not out off 69 .
