28th Liangmai Sports Meet enters 8th day

Dimapur, January 16 2026:
The 28th Liangmai Sports Meet 2026 organised by the Liangmai Sports Association (LSA), representing Assam, Manipur, and Nagaland entered 8th day today.
The event was launched on January 7 at Samziuram village, Peren district, Nagaland under the inspiring theme "Strive to Transcend" .
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Namri Nchang, ML A of Tening Assembly Constituency, Nagaland, as the special guest.

The occasion was further honored by the presence of Hiazu Mem, Deputy Commissioner, Peren, as special invitee, and Wingam Nring, president, ZLR Baudi, Nagaland, with a special appearance by Indian International Footballer Seimenlen Doungel.
The 28th LSA Meet is witnessing overwhelming participation of 49 men's football teams, 9 women's football teams, 21 men's volleyball teams, and 17 women's volleyball teams, along with competitions in badminton (singles, doubles, and veterans) and athletics.
The 15-day sporting extravaganza reflects the growing enthusiasm and unity among the Liangmai community and beyond.
A musical extravaganza was held on January 10, with Dr Alyson Abonmai, president, Palace Ministries Charitable Trust, as guest of honour; and Masangum Hiekha, president, Jalukie Valley Youth Organization, as special invitee.
The Cultural Day was observed on January 11, graced by Z Kikhonbo Newmai, former MLA, Tamei Assembly Constituency (Manipur), as special guest; Er John Chawang as guest of honour; and special invitees Mteisuding Heraang, president, Naga Students' Federation.
The closing ceremony will be graced by TR Zeliang, Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland, as special guest; Awangbow Newmai, MLA of Tamei assembly constituency, as guest of honour; and special invitees Dr Mallika Nad, president, Special Olympics, New Delhi; Mukesh Shuklaji, Chairman, Special Olympics Bharat; and Amit Jain, Chief Editor, Chanakya Varta.
The ceremony will be hosted by R Machundoubou, president, Liangmai Naga Council Manipur, and Mathiuchunbou Rimai, president, LNKR-Manipur.
The event, which will run till January 22, is being led by SP Kadilinbou, president, LSA, with Hurui Namdau serving as the convener, organizing committee.
