Imphal, July 11 2025: The Manipur Cycle Polo Association (MPCA) has today handed over 10 plastic banks to the Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) to reinforce the Imphal Smart City Mission and help reduce the plastic waste littering and pollution in nooks and corners of the Imphal City.

The plastic banks received from the Directorate of Environment and Climate Change were formally handed to IMC in the presence of IMC's Commissioner Kiyam Chandrakumar; Additional Commissioner Thoudam Sony and Deputy Commissioner Yumnam Peter at the office of the Imphal Municipal Corporation, said MPCA in a press release.

Former Corporator of IMC Ward Number 7, RK Jiten; MPCA vice president Sagolshem Inaocha, MPCA joint secretary Koijam Tomba; assistant secretary Md Parvez Rahman; treasurer Yumnam Ajitkumar and others were also present at the occasion, it said.

Speaking at the event, IMC Commissioner Kiyam Chandrakumar said that Imphal is a very historic place and the centre of all activities of the State and everyone has a responsibility to keep it clean and beautiful.

He had also urged all sections of the society to generously assist IMC in the cause of making Imphal a smart city which cannot be realised without the help of the general population, it said.

MPCA vice president in the meantime highlighted MPCA's growth and movement in recent years and the association's preparedness to host Federation Cup in January next year as verbally approved by the National federation, it said.
