Imphal, April 11 2015 : Manipur Police Badminton Tournament for the personnel above the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police had commenced from Friday at Officer's Club, Lamphel in the presence of PC Lawmkunga, Chief Secretary of Manipur.

The three-day span is being organised by Manipur Police Sporting Club and action of the competition will continue on April 12 and 14 at the same venue.

In Singles open section, N Madhunimai and Luikham Lanmiyo will lock horns in the final.

The finalist book their place in contrasting styles, Madhunimai comfortably walks over S David Piaklian in straight sets, 21-14; 21-8 while Luikham Lanmiyo had to overcome stiff challenge from P Guite in 16-21; 21-11 and 21-18 .

Th Radheshyam; A Basanta Sharma; K Jayanta and Ak Sadananda advance to the semifinals of the above 50 Men's Singles.

Radheshyam defeated Santosh Marchela in 21-12; 21-15 while A Basanta had to crawl over M Mubi in 9-21; 21-11 and 21-18.Jayanta and Sadananda did not sweat as Moirangthem Rajen and Oinam Chaoba retired in the middle of the game.

In the above 55 age category, Ch Bimol Singh; H Gyaneshwor; Santosh Marcherla and N Jatin Singh find a place in the semifinals.

In the quarterfinals, Ch Bimol easily defeated N Manimohan without any trouble in 21-6; 21-6 H Gyaneshwor had to stretched to overcome PM Gaud in 21-19; 21-16.Santosh Marcherla managed to defeat Ksh RAjen in 21-14; 21-15 while N Jatin had a walk over as Th Akhuba forfeited the match.

In Men' Double, Ch Bimol - Th Radheshyam or Lunkhomang and N Herojit Meetei -Sadananda Singh or LM Khoute will vie for the title.

On the other side, LM Khoute-Oinam Chaoba and IK Muivah-M Mubi Singh will battle out for title in the above 45 section.

While A Basanta Saharma-Oinam Chaoba and Ak Sadananda-Th Radheshayam advanced to the semifinals of the above 50 title.
