38th State Aquatics Championship-2025 underway

Imphal, May 10 2025:
The 38th edition of the State Aquatics Championship-2025 got underway today at Standard College Swimming Pool, Kongba under the supervision of the Manipur Swimming Association.
The opening day of the championship saw Koijam Athoiba claiming the Group III boys' 400 m freestyle event.
Athoiba topped the event with a time of 4:59.35 (four minutes 59.35 seconds) as Thanjam Mangalsana (5:39.04) and Angom Lanchenba (6:14.179) finished second and third.
Mathurabashimayum Pravesh in the meantime sealed the Group II Boys' 400 m freestyle gold by taking 4:54.30 as Nongmaithem Dhananjoy (4:54.56) and Sarungbam Khagemba (5:46.513) settled for the silver and the bronze medals.
Sarangthem Yoihenba was able to seal the Group IV boys' 50 m backstroke gold taking best 47.25 seconds while Leishangthem Bishorjit took 31.77 seconds to win the Group II boys' 50 m back-stroke event gold.
Sarungbam Athouba meanwhile won the senior men's 50 m backstroke gold with a time of 28.27 seconds as Achom Reechie (39.03 seconds) and Achom Reekendra (39.28 seconds) finished second and third.
Soubam Luchingbi (1:34.01) and Koijam Athoiba (1:06.761) also won the Group III Girls' and Group III Boys' 100 m breaststroke event gold medals respectively.
In the evening session, Sarungbam Luching (45.481 seconds), Laitonjam Lanchenba (26.417 seconds) and L Piouson (28.063 seconds) also sealed gold medals respectively in the Group IV, Group II and Group I Boys' 50 m butterfly stroke events.
Soubam Luchingbi also won a gold medal in the Group III girls' 100 m butterfly stroke event taking 1:30.264 (1 minute 30.264 seconds).
L Punghen meanwhile claimed the Group III boys' 200 m butterfly stroke event with a time of 2:34.90.Sarangthem Dolly posted 44.606 seconds to win the Group IV girls' 50 m freestyle event gold medal as Christina claimed the Group III girls' 200 m freestyle gold with a time of 2:55.319.MB Pravesh also won a gold medal in the Group II boys' 50 m freestyle event with a time of 27.191 seconds as Thounaojam Adishree won the senior women's 50 m freestyle event gold taking 30.59 seconds.
Thoudam Gaitry (32.96 seconds), Nongthombam Budhachandra (26.535 seconds) and Sarungbam Athouba (24.861 seconds) also went on to claim the Group I Girls', Group I Boys and senior men's 50 m freestyle event gold medals.
